I designed this wraparound phoenix armor when I was 18-years-old, for a comic project that never came to fruition. So when I decided to paint Sailor Mars, I just thought it was the perfect opportunity to use it as an enhancement to her existing badassery. :) I like to envision Rei's transformation sequence into the Mars Phoenix Warrior as being similar to Iron Man, as their Awesome levels are pretty much equivalent.
