I had a lot of fun with this piece, depicting Mann's Chinese Theatre for Gallery 1988's Los Angeles-themed tribute show. I loved the original Chinese-style palm tree curtains for the theatre, because it was such a perfect blend of Californian and Chinese influences, so I definitely wanted to incorporate it.
But I also wanted the color palette to be less of the traditional red-and-gold and more reminiscent of Los Angeles beachy sunsets. Not to mention, the rose gold (or "Living Coral" according to Pantone) hue is pretty on-trend for this new year.
